The North Island is one of mother earth’s greatest creations. Much is written and said about New Zealand’s South Island, but the North is a place of majestic and diverse beauty if you know where to look. From seal colonies, to funky surf towns, to stunning waterfalls, there is so much on this wonderful island to take in! Bridal Veil Falls Bridal Veil Falls is located in the Northwest Waikato District just a short distance from Raglan. Extreme power and a unique, remote location make this waterfall one of New Zealand’s must-see free attractions. Walk to the top and down to the base of these spectacular 55m falls! Bulli Point Located on State Highway 1, just out of Taupo, lies the hidden gem of Bulli Point. Take the plunge into the fresh blue water from one of three ledges, the highest being 7 metres. Bulli Point attracts locals in the summer months when the sun is shining and the lake's temperature is turned up a few notches. Putaruru Springs The Blue Spring at Te Waihou Walkway is internationally acclaimed with water so pure it supplies around 70% of New Zealand’s bottled water. The spring is fed from the Mamaku Plateau where the water takes up to 100 years to filter through. The walk to the Springs follows a track alongside the Waihou River. The views are incredible and in summer you’ll be able to dip your feet in the waters. Marokopa Falls A 30-minute drive west from Waitomo, the 35-metre high Marokopa Falls are often described as the most beautiful in the country! Here the Marokopa River cascades over the undercut greywacke basement rock. Take the short track from the carpark through tawa and nikau forest to the viewing platform.
